I get where you’re coming from and it’s definitely a valid point of view. XD doesn’t conform with most of the mental models that we have of a screen design tool. However, to your example, I find adding an artboard super easy. you just click “A”. It’s not necessarily intuitive, but it’s better in my opinion.
